Storefronts that sell, connected to the systems behind them
Ecommerce development covers the storefront and everything it has to talk to: catalogue, checkout, payments, fulfilment, and the CRM or ERP behind it. Once order history reaches the customer record, abandoned cart recovery and lifetime value segmentation run from real data rather than from a separate email tool.
Who this is for
You probably need this if…
If none of these sound familiar, you may not need us yet, and we would rather say so now.
Your store and your email platform hold two unconnected customer lists.
Abandoned cart recovery is one generic email sent four hours later.
Nobody can tell you the lifetime value of a customer segment.
Checkout drops mobile conversions and nobody has measured why.
Support reps open the store admin to answer where is my order.
Scope
What's included in shopify development
Every item below is a deliverable with an owner and a date, not a capability we happen to have.
- 01
Storefront build
Shopify theme, headless front end or WooCommerce, chosen on your catalogue complexity rather than on what we prefer to build.
- 02
Checkout optimisation
Mobile first checkout, express payment methods and a funnel instrumented so drop off is a number rather than a theory.
- 03
CRM and ERP sync
Orders, line items, carts and customers synced on a stable external key, so reporting can be trusted.
- 04
Lifecycle automation
Cart recovery, post purchase sequences, replenishment and win back driven by real order data.
- 05
Catalogue and search
Structured product data, faceted search and Product schema so listings qualify for rich results.
- 06
Custom apps
Shopify apps and extensions where the platform stops short, built as private apps under your account.
Process
How a shopify and ecommerce project runs
6 stages over 8 to 12 weeks. You get a written plan before stage one, and a named owner on our side throughout.
Catalogue and requirements
Weeks 1 to 2Product model, variants, tax and shipping rules, and every system the store has to talk to.
Design
Weeks 2 to 4Listing, product detail and checkout designed mobile first, because that is where both the revenue and the drop off are.
Build
Weeks 4 to 8Theme, catalogue import, payments and integrations developed together rather than bolted on afterwards.
Automation
Week 8Cart, purchase and retention workflows built on the synced order data.
QA and launch
Weeks 9 to 10End to end test transactions, tax and shipping verification, load testing, then cutover.
Optimisation
OngoingCheckout funnel analysis and a testing calendar once real traffic arrives.
Commercials
Timeline and cost
Shopify and Ecommerce Development starts at $18,000 and typically takes 8 to 12 weeks. Includes CRM sync and lifecycle automation.
That figure is a starting point, not an estimate we revise upward later. The first week of every engagement is a scoping week that ends with a fixed fee and a fixed date. If the scope turns out to be smaller than we assumed, the fee goes down.
We do not bill by the hour for project work. Hourly billing pays us to be slow, and it makes your budget a function of our efficiency rather than of your requirements.
FAQ
Shopify development questions
Direct answers. If yours is not here, ask us and we will add it.
Should I build on Shopify or WooCommerce?
Shopify when you want hosted infrastructure, PCI handled for you and a fast path to launch. WooCommerce when you need full data ownership, complex pricing logic, or a store living inside an existing WordPress content site. Catalogue complexity and how much control you need decide it, not preference.
When is headless Shopify worth it?
When you need a content experience the theme layer cannot express, multiple storefronts off one catalogue, or performance beyond what a theme can reach. It costs meaningfully more to build and maintain, so for a standard catalogue a well built theme is the better investment.
Can you connect the store to our CRM?
Yes, and it is usually where the return is. Orders, line items, carts and customers sync into HubSpot or Salesforce keyed on the order ID, which makes cart recovery, post purchase sequences and lifetime value segmentation run natively from the CRM instead of from a stale copy in an email tool.
How long does an ecommerce build take?
Eight to twelve weeks for a standard catalogue with CRM sync and lifecycle automation. Complex variant logic, B2B pricing tiers or an ERP integration push it to fourteen to twenty. Catalogue preparation is the step that slips most often, so we start it in week one.
